The Power of Resilience!

“Our greatest glory is not in never falling, but in rising every time we fall.” ― Confucius

HOW DO YOU DEFINE RESILIENCE?

What word picture comes to mind when you hear the word resilient or resilience? Do you think of a brick wall, strong and unbreakable?  Or do you think of an object or person being flexible and elastic to move within its environment of change? Be encouraged … you can develop resilience within you just like you build muscle within your body.

Resilient defined: elastic, flexible, able to endure strain without being permanently injured.... recover when pressure is removed. Ability to recover readily from adversity; buoyancy.

Have you ever seen a plant or a weed growing out of a crack in the sidewalk or a tree growing out from the side of a cliff? RESILIENCE! Facing your fears is one way to build your 'RESILIENCE" muscle to grow through challenging or difficult times. Building resilience creates your RESILIENT mindset.  Develop sustaining RESILIENCE when facing your silent fears: fear of the unknown, fear of failing, fear of success, fear to be your authentic self, and/or the fear that something is wrong with you.

How can you build resilience in areas of your life where fear (False Evidence Appearing Real) is speaking to you

5 PILLARS TO BUILDING A RESILIENT LIFE

I may not be able to speak for you, but I know that many of my current skill sets, mindset, talents, knowledge, and wisdom I was not born with (thank goodness).  I had to develop them over the years. I was able to do this by adding courage, tenacity, wisdom from others, lessons from life moments, and developing a healthy mindset so I can stand on the pillar of resiliency.  And yes, I still wobble on that pillar, but I don’t fall off as I did before.  I hold onto it!

If you think you need to build more life-long resilience, check out these five pillars of resiliency.  You can apply the list below in every area of your life: health, finances, relationships, professional aspirations and so on. Resilience builds one day at a time through every day moments. Don’t be discouraged, but take every opportunity as a moment to grow and build a foundation of resilience!

Is there one pillar you can start building upon today?

·  Being Self-Aware

·  Mindfulness

·  Developing Self Care

·  Healthy Relationships

·  Defining Your Purpose

“Everybody is the hero in their own story--you should be the hero in your own story,” Chadwick Boseman

RESILIENCE – ONE MOMENT AT A TIME

Don’t dismiss small beginnings….for there is your foundation of RESILIENCE to do great and mighty things every day.  Small beginnings of not seeing results and feeling like you may be doing “all of this” for nothing… builds our character and the resilience to keep moving forward to step into our authentic selves. Learn more about RESILIENCE.

Life happens…that is our constant.  Don’t let “life happen moments” reduce you...lean into those RESILIENT moments within you which will make you stronger in spirit, soul, and body. It is not just one shining moment that defines us, but all of the moments in between...there lies resilience.

🔶Lucille Ball was told by her acting coach that she was “wasting her time and ours.” She definitely got the last laugh.

🔶Vera Wang had a dream of being on the U.S. Olympic figure skating team but didn’t make the team.  I bet you have one of her designs in your home or wardrobe!

🔶Sheryl Lee Ralph, 65 years old/actor who won the 2022 Emmy for her role on the show Abbott Elementary.  She has been in the industry for over 40 years; her first award and the first time she was invited to the Emmys.

Remember, these are just one defining “resilient” moment in their lives…..ONE!

 What is your RESILIENT story?

THIS I BELIEVE - LET RESILIENCE BE YOUR NORTH STAR

Implementing resilience doesn’t happen overnight but over a lifetime. One day, one moment, and one experience at a time. Resilient action on your part is like a lifeline (think of a strong rope) that pulls you through “life happens” moments, challenges, triumphs, and everything in between.

Developing a resilient mindset and a resilient life is like having a constant North Star in your life.  It is said that the North Star does move a tiny bit over the course of a night which means it stays pretty much in the same spot in the sky all night and all day. Thanks to its perch high above the North Pole, it always points the way North.  You can rely on the North Star

The more you develop the muscle of resilience whether in your mindset, character, or actions, you can start to rely on it.  Resilience becomes your “go-to” when life happens, when people try to discourage you or when those self-limiting beliefs start to speak to you.  Resilience (just one fiber of who you are) steps up and helps you push through.  It is not denying what is happening, but it is saying, “this won’t destroy me or bring me down, or I won’t let this tear down all that I have done to build myself up.”

Resilience is actually more about providing you the experiences and the opportunities to feel different emotions, to fail, or see the fruit of your hard work. Those moments allow you to know what to do and what not to do.  Without them, you would not have the wisdom and knowledge you need to pivot, adjust, evaluate and try again.

Developing your life-long trait of resilience means you have to keep your hands open as you hold onto each day and what it has to offer you.  Resilience is not a wall, but a healthy boundary.

RESILIENT MINDSET = RESILIENT CHARACTER  = RESILIENT ACTIONS =

YOUR RESILIENT LIFE
