Coach, Counselor, Mentor

Coaching is not counseling. In counseling/therapy, a client works with a healthcare professional to diagnose and resolve problematic beliefs, behaviors, relationship issues, and feelings. The idea is to focus on past traumas and issues to change self-destructive habits, repair and improve relationships and work through painful feelings. In this sense, therapy focuses on the past with the hope of resolving past issues to create a more stable future.

Life Coaching is where a life coach sets clients up with a process that may be long or short-term. A client works with a coach, who is not a healthcare professional, in order to clarify goals and identify obstacles and problematic behaviors in order to create action plans to achieve your desired outcomes. The life coach takes the client’s current starting point and enables the person to take control of their life and take action to steer it toward their goals.

Coaching is not mentoring. Mentoring often has some elements of coaching, but differs since the mentor offers guidance based on their experience. If you get told what to do or how to solve a problem, then it is not coaching.

Timelines and Costs

Costs: Stephanie is a professionally trained and certified life coach and certified divorce coach. You will find her fees are in line with other highly trained professionals. Coaching fees vary from coach to coach and Stephanie charges on a package basis. Coaching is done either by phone, Zoom (online) or in person (TBD). A fee arrangement will be agreed upon after a complimentary, initial call has been initiated so that Stephanie has a better understanding of your current situation and goals. Acceptable payments include check or PayPal.

Coaching Timeline: It depends on where you are, where you want to go, and how quickly you want to get there. Some clients may achieve their goals in as little as one to three months. Most often, clients stay with a coach anywhere from six to eighteen months, but it is up to you. After clients realize their first goals, they often identify other areas in which they want to work through. The coaching relationship continues as long as there is a benefit to the client.
