What Energizes You? Simple Steps to Igniting Your Passion!
“If you want to be happy, set a goal that commands your thoughts, liberates your energy and inspires your hopes.” — Andrew Carnegie
Have you ever said to yourself, "If I could just figure out what I'm really passionate about, everything else will take off or fall into place?”
For years I always struggled with articulating “what is my passion?” I knew in my heart “I love to help people maximize their gifts and talents within them so they can go further and farther in life.” However, I was not sure how to move it from my heart into action. What is my passion? What is your passion?
A common stumbling block to discovering and launching your passion-filled life is trying to figure out “what you're passionate about in the first place.”
HERE IS A TIP: If trying to clarify your passion is a struggle, swap out “what is your passion” with “what energizes you.”
When I think about what energizes me, so many things come to mind and I get more clarity around my passion. Swapping out those phrases simplifies it for me, and it is no longer a struggle. How about you? That which energizes me is my passion.
Remember: Sometimes your passion doesn’t come from a specific problem you want to solve, but from a specific solution you want to provide.
WHAT ENERGIZES YOU? What you are dreaming about, thinking about and desiring to put into action is a great indicator of what you’re passionate about. Don’t overthink it.
ARE YOU READY? Let’s ask a few discovery questions…
What do you love to create?
What results move you?
What products or services excite you?
What are your gifts and talents within you?
What do you already know about what energizes you?
What don’t you know about what energizes you?
“You’re the average of the five people you spend most of your time with.” Jim Rohn
WHAT ENERGIZES YOU?
Here are some tools for your “tool box”
*Back to Basics: In my spiritual walk, when I find my faith is being challenged by my own “should’ve, could’ve” thoughts and expectations, I go back to my child-like faith. How did I believe years ago about this same thing when I first started walking out my faith? What energized me years ago?
*If you could be remembered for 3 things after you die, what would they be? What kind of legacy do you want to leave behind? What energizes you as you ask this question will help define your passion.
*Think about the end in mind. Where and how will you arrive in your space in 5 or 10 years? How would your extraordinary life look like today if the future were here? Have you visualized the things you will be able to do once you start manifesting your passion? Does it feel freeing? This process is helpful to get you unstuck or energize yourself.
*Enjoy Your Journey. It is not just about achieving the goal, but also BEING. To enjoy this passion-filled journey, you need to be present. A poem I read said: "Yesterday is history, tomorrow is a mystery, today is a gift ... that's why we call it the Present."
*Have a Servant Heart. Your passion is contagious. When you're living your passion, people around you take notice and want in on whatever you're doing. Your energy and passion will inspire others.
*What is the theme in your life? Look at the books you read, what you collect, music you like to listen to, groups you like to support? Is there a common theme or thread in there? What are you gravitating towards? This step can help you discover what energizes you and lead to your passion.
*What isn’t working for you? What drains you, makes you stressed, or wastes your time? Kick those things to the curb!
THIS I KNOW… Are you starting to think about what energizes you? Are you at a place where you are reinventing yourself personally or professionally, writing a new chapter in your life or you want to be a change maker and make a difference? That feeling you get inside of you RIGHT NOW just by thinking on these things and how it energizes you is your green light. Next step… put it into ACTION.
Create your PASSION path and start walking on it my courageous friend.
