Easy Steps To Create Your Winning Mindset
“The altitude of your purpose defines your mindset. The greater the aim, the more you create a winning mindset.”
Do you like to spring clean? I do… in fact, I probably “spring clean” a few times a year depending upon what is happening in our family. Here in Michigan we have four seasons and when it is around Spring, we usually start asking each other “have you started your spring cleaning yet?”
Have you ever thought of doing a “spring cleaning” of your mind… decluttering your mind of toxic thoughts, labels from the past, negative views of yourself, thoughts that work against you and so on? Or you may be in a really great place with your MINDSET, so now it is time to take it to the next level! Resetting your MINDSET is a good thing… by decluttering your mindset or taking it to a new level puts you on the RESET path.
What is a MINDSET? Your mindset is a set of beliefs that shape how you make sense of the world and yourself. It influences how you think, feel, and behave in any given situation.
So, how do you start resetting your mindset? Just like you think about the rooms of your house you want to “spring clean,” think of your mindset as rooms… which room needs your attention first?
Let’s head over to the WHEEL OF LIFE!
WHEEL OF LIFE
First: Take time to rate your MINDSET in each area of the wheel. Rate from ONE (needs focus) to TEN (doing well). This gives you a starting place and a visual on the different rooms of your MINDSET.
Take time to ask yourself WHY you chose each number. HOW do you feel about your number? WHAT does this area look like today and how will it look when you are close to or at a TEN?
Second: After rating each area, start “chunking” it down. Which area do you want to work on first? At your pace, take one topic at a time on the Wheel and explore it. This allows you time to explore that specific area and really get to know yourself as you RESET your MINDSET.
Third: This Wheel of Life is for a lifetime. Revisit it often!
“Your mindset restores your belief in your abilities, capacities, and talents.”
“Every day, stand guard at the door of your mind.”—Jim Rohn
Winning Mindset
You are ONE DECISION away from a WINNING MINDSET. One sure way to feel more confident about yourself, is to keep striving for small successes that can have a great impact on your self-reliance. Over time, these smaller achievements translate into greater achievements. A WINNING MINDSET acknowledges that whatever adversity you face, you will overcome. A WINNING MINDSET realizes there are a lot of hurdles. You have to move past those things that test your Will in order to maintain your WINNING MINDSET.
The great boxer Muhammad Ali says, “I told myself I was the greatest, even before I knew I was.”
A WINNING MINDSET is probably the most important asset you have and an instrumental tool to use …every day. By developing your WINNING MINDSET, you will feel more confident about the road in front of you, see challenges as opportunities, setbacks as set ups for success and failures as growth opportunities.
Have you heard of Tony Robbin’s “2 Millimeter Rule?” It states how the smallest changes can yield the biggest results. “A shift of only 2 millimeters can be the difference between creating the life you deserve and achieving your goals or letting life pass you by. When business isn’t going according to plan, and your brain keeps telling you “nothing is working,” it can feel like you are a million miles away from where you want to be. But the truth is, you’re really only 2mm away. Because it’s those tiny little habits that add up — a week from now, a month from now, a year from now — to make a profound difference.”
Two MINDSETS Compete for Your Attention
According to Stanford psychologist Carol Dweck, if you have a FIXED mindset, you believe your abilities are fixed traits and can't be changed. If you have a GROWTH mindset, you believe your talents and abilities can be developed over time through effort and persistence.
Fixed Mindset Growth Mindset
Either I’m good at it or I’m not. I can learn to do anything.
That's just who I am. I can't change. I am constantly evolving.
If I don’t try, then I won’t fail. I only fail when I stop trying.
My Courageous Friend, you are one decision away from resetting your MINDSET and walking in a WINNING MINDSET every day. You are stronger and wiser than you think you are, highly esteemed and admired by others … you are walking on the path that is meant just for YOU to share your gifts and talents with the world. Go get ‘em!
